Work History
Prior to becoming a psychologist, Dr. Jaclyn Lewis-Croswell worked as a registered respiratory therapist (RRT). She worked at several hospitals in the suburbs of Chicago and then spent most of her 10-year career as a respiratory therapist at Rush University Medical Center. She worked with neonates through geriatrics in the many Intensive Care Units at Rush. During her career as an RRT, Dr. Lewis-Croswell realized that many patients in the hospital could benefit from psychological intervention due to the emotional impact of serious medical conditions. She decided to continue her education in order to get a doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology with a focus on health psychology.
Dr. Jaclyn Lewis-Croswell worked at and received advanced post graduate training at the James A. Haley Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tampa, Fl. from 2007 to 2013. She worked with various medical services including oncology, nephrology and primary care. In these settings, Dr. Lewis-Croswell worked collaboratively with physicians treating patients with chronic medical conditions and psychological symptoms. There, she received advanced training and consultation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and found that this treatment not only helped patients with insomnia but also decreased symptoms of anxiety and depression for most of the Veteran patients under her care. While at the JAHVA, Dr. Lewis-Croswell was also nominated and selected to become a national consultant in Motivational Interviewing (MI); an evidence based approach to enhance treatment engagement and compliance for various health and psychological problems. In this role she trained numerous medical and mental health providers on national, regional, and local levels.
Dr. Jaclyn Lewis-Croswell has been treating insomnia and related sleep conditions since 2010. In 2013, she began working at Tampa General Hospital. There she integrated into the cancer center, helped create a Primary Care-Mental Health integrated clinic, and created the Insomnia Clinic as part of TGH/USF sleep medicine service. Dr. Lewis-Croswell has several publications including peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters on behavioral sleep medicine, parasomnias, circadian rhythm disorders and treatments for sleep disorders.
In 2019, Dr. Jaclyn Lewis-Croswell joined the Psychology Center of Tampa Bay bringing her expertise in these areas to patients in the Tampa Bay and USF location.
